I'm going to talk about the yet to be publicly released mystery Ruby (Brian Ford mentioned it in his last Rubyconf talk) that we've been working on in our spare time for the past 7months, and explain how it is consistently faster than any other Ruby we pitched against it.
Bitcoin is a fascinating peer to peer network forming an online currency. It also happens to be one of my hobbies besides Ruby. The story is, that my hobbies occasionally meet and decide to do something together. Last time Ruby and Bitcoins decided to build a simple wallet library.
Get started with Ruby and Bitcoins
The approach I have taken is to make advantage of the work already done in the Java world. Using JRuby, I bring together the bitcoinj Java-library and the Ruby programming language.
